Lobsters caught and handled by fishermen
We’re confident more buyers will see value in this.
On Wednesday, the Prince Edward Island Fishermen’s Association inked a three-year, $17 million deal in China to sell and market a specialty lobster product under the new brand.
PEIFA executive director, Ian MacPherson, said the deal with the Wuhan Lanesync Supply Chain has been in the works for over a year and got signed during the China Fishery and Seafood Expo.
This brand is something the Prince Edward Island Fishermen’s Association has been working towards for close to three years.
A Prince Edward Island Fisherman’s Brand:
It does have a nice ring to it.
Those are not just east coast lobsters in the packaging: they’re lobsters caught and handled by fishermen from a little piece of paradise known as Prince Edward Island.
Fishermen here have resisted a push to have the minimum size for canner lobsters increased, and this new brand could stand to be their reward for holding firm.
